Communications Specialist/Web Editor

Works specifically to strengthen and enhance the image and awareness of The Salvation Army through written content intended for print and electronic communications; seeks and identifies compelling stories and prepares them for national distribution by means of the various national web sites; writes original feature stories daily for the national web site and provides appropriate content for use as syndicated material for field web sites; assists in the maintenance and content enrichment of the Red Shield Tool Kit; serves as the writer/editor of an electronic newsletter on behalf of the National Commander and National Headquarters for monthly distribution; assists in the conceptual design and content development of the virtual National Annual Report; uses all forms of communication (print, electronic, photo and video) to effectively communicate the mission of The Salvation Army internally and externally; may require 15% - 25% of time in travel. Requirements: BA/BS in English, Journalism or Communications and three to five years of experience working in a fast paced/high energy, multiple project, deadline driven environment, with verifiable portfolio of demonstrated work or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Technical Advisor – Agriculture, Water and Disaster Assistance (World Services Office)

Provides technical, administrative and managerial support to assigned Territories/Commands to assist the accomplishment of development activities; provides technical leadership in the specific discipline of agriculture, food aid management and disaster assistance programming; participates and assists in home office activities. International travel.

 Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required with a Master’s degree in agricultural / water  programs, systems and technologies with specific relationship to the international development preferred, and three to five years of professional experience in international agricultural / water programs, and three to  five years in program management experience, with three years of experience in a management role living in developing countries and working with international agricultural/water programs  preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a current passport.  Excellent benefits after 90 days of employment.
